They are a popular alternative to the more expensive caravan porch awnings and are best suited to fair conditions. For the space they create they are well worth the expense. Starcamp are one of cheapest around by a mile, and offer affordable awnings. Their ranges are very complete, with basic model to the more elaborate, depending on your budget.

The first in the line up is the Fun and Fun Plus, which are the most basic awnings. They are best suited for overnight stays or for touring, and are made to fit caravans of 235-250cms in height. The prices are very low, with the Fun coming in at about £90 and the Fun Plus at £105. For this kind of money you get a door on the left and right sides, and the roof is angled to stop any rain water building up. The poles are reinforced fibre and you also get mesh ventilation on both sides. They both look very modern, with their sweeping curves and stylish colour schemes. The Fun weighs just 8 kgs, so it is easily transported and doesn’t take up much room.

Next we have the Starcamp Sport Plus, which is a bit bigger than the Fun series, and it will set you back around £120. It has two doors and mesh ventilation, and is made from a higher grade polyester which gives it a bit more durability than the Fun and Fun Plus. It comes in a choice of 3 colours and weighs 9.5kgs. Again, it is ideal for short stays and weekend breaks, and at the price it offers terrific value for money.

The Contempo is a tunnel style caravan porch awning , with a two hoop design that gives it more stability. It also offers good living space if needed. The frame is reinforced fibreglass, and there is front door that can be zipped up or rolled out for better access. It will caravans up to 250cms in height, and the best part is that it is very lightweight at just 10.5kgs. Next we have the Magnum 260 and the 390 and the numbers relate to the sizes. The 260 costs £170 and 390 is £230. They are both well made and offer a large amount of space, especially the 390. They are made from ripstop polyester material and the flexible rod system means they can take adverse weather conditions. The 390 can also be used with an inner tent, which is only £30 and will give you another berth, ideal for unexpected guests. Both look very stylish indeed, and are one of the most popular Starcamp caravan awnings. Another advantage is that they only take minutes to set up.

The Starcamp Ranger is the most stylish in the range, and looks very futuristic. This design makes it very stable in windy conditions, and it is one of the best vaule lightweight porch awnings for the price. It costs just £190 and has two doors and a zip out front panel. It also has aluminium roof supports along with the reinforced fibre support poles. It weighs in at just 11kgs and will fir caravans up to 250cms high.

The last to in the range are the Alpha and the Quattro, and both of these are the top of the range, offering the most luxury and space. The Alpha has steel support poles and the rook is made from coated polyester, whilst the walls are made from breathable acrylic, which is great in hot weather. It features the safe lock system, and is very easy to erect. There are two side panels that both have windows and can be rolled up, as can the front panel to create a veranda. The prices start at only £260.

The Quattro has the same technology as the Alpha but is slightly larger, at 275 by 200 cms. The front panel has two windows, which have privacy curtains as well. It has been designed to be easy to use, and with the option of the lightweight aluminium frame it certainly is. The price is around £300, and you will be hard pushed to find a better porch awning that offers as much as the Quattro for the price. Highly recommended.

Starcamp has gone from strength to strength in recent years. They offer low prices awnings but still manage to give good quality and durability. Even the lowest priced models have something to offer, and the stylish designs make them pleasing on the eye. Well worth a look at.
